multiple controls in an effect via script

Hi All,
got a script that generates an number of controls (depending on whats in the file it imports). at the moment they are all in individual effects, making the effects panel look really cluttered.
I've see the samples for editing the effectspresets.xml but as there can be any number of controls, that is not really applicable.
Is there any way of putting all these controls under one effect via the script?
