Scripting Listener for After Effects

Having scripted with photoshop before I'm wondering if there's some scripting listener plugin for After Effects. It'd be an awesome tool for script development. I'm not sure how many people script on AE and if it'd be a feature request that Adobe could listen to.
Ideas, thoughts?
