Create new comp with attributes from a layer

If I have to layers in the project window and drag them both to the "make new composition" icon, I get a dialog box that asks me what layer to take the attributes from. How would I do this by scripting? Say I had a clip01 and a clip02 and would like the comp to take the attributes of clip01.
