Script(s) were working great,. didn't change a thing, then just stop working properly!

Thanks to the power of ChatGPT, I've been able to create some really great scripts for work.
I spent many weeks working on a few scripts that would rename comp names and text layers and a few other things.
They were working great.
then all of a sudden something broke and much of the features stopped working.
a few times I'd quite AE, then reboot, empty caches, resetting prefs. with no luck, but then they would start working again firefly, but then stop working yet again. didn't update AE (2024 24.5). Tried on a totally different machine and they didn't work.
yet the script started working again for a moment yesterday , but then didn't. So something funky is going on.
I've tried using ChatGPT to debug a little, but it's a beast of a script, so at this point I either need to get help ,
guessing it's perhaps it could be something in AE itself? (or a bug in AE?) so might just try to start over again.
But perhaps someone else has an idea? is there some of call the script could make to "flush" internal settings?
I'm at a loss, and clearly have no skills outside of chatgpt when it comes to coding.
thanks,
